Conjunctio is a figure that indicates union but is especially apt when considered in context of the Thelemic formula 0=2 and again 2=0, the idea is the idea of samadhi and the result of samadhi. The figure is attributed to Mercury and Virgo and the elements associated with this figure are Earth and Air.

The Vision:

At first, I saw bees and butterflies and beautiful flowers, and the bees and the butterflies were busy pollenating the flowers. It was spring-time and I saw the sun and the moon, and they were simultaneously hovering above me in the sky. Then I saw many children playing, the many became two, a girl and a boy, these two children looked identical, and they were laughing and dancing in a circle, going clockwise and with their arms linked together. After seeing the children, there were a lot of people dying, they instantly putrefied and became part of the soil from which new flowers started to grow. Then it was spring again, and I saw the figure of a giant woman standing in front and over me, she was nurturing and caring as a mother. The woman was dressed in a long white Tau robe, then she was sitting naked under a tree in the shade, and she was busy nursing a baby. But suddenly the baby disappeared, and she stood up and walked away, and as she walked, she grew older, until she was so frail and weak that she hunched over and died. As soon as she died everything changed and it was Autum and the leaves fell from the trees, and it became night. These images flashed by very quickly, after night fell it started to rain and the plants started growing again and I saw the flowers and the bees again. I realized that I was watching the seasons change and it made me very glad. Then a beautiful woman embraced and kissed me, she held onto me for a while before letting go. Once she had let go of me, I saw the sun in the sky and there were two pillars beside it, the pillar on the right was white and the one on the left was black, they were the pillars on the Tree of Life. After noticing the pillars, the children from the beginning of the vision were there playing again and as soon as I noticed the children, a lightning bolt shot out of the sun and came down in between the two pillars. When it hit the Earth, a golden bush appeared and the bush was on fire, but after a while it turned into pure gold. The bush soon turned into a pot, a golden pot and I saw what at first looked like a short witch, that I later realized was a gnome cooking food in the golden pot. The gnome was green and dressed in all black, he had a tall black hat on his head, that looked like a witch's hat, and as soon as he saw me, he said, “come here!” I immediately found myself beside him, then he said, “help me cook” “there are a lot of people to feed!” He handed me a big spoon and said, “here, stir it with this.” I looked down at the pot as I was stirring and the color of the food started changing, first it was grey, then green until it turned into pure gold. Once the gnome was happy with the result, he said, “we should move it against the wall, there are a lot of people coming” “I have a lot of people to feed”, so, he moved the pot against a wall. Afterwards the gnome was happy with me and said, “here have a cookie” and then he stuck a wafer in my mouth and told me to sit down. As soon as he said, “sit down” I was seated at a dining table, with a plate of the food we had just cooked in front of me. I then thanked the spirit and ended the vision.

In the art of Geomancy, Fortuna Major is an extremely auspicious figure, it means good fortune, in fact, in means the best fortune. It indicates that great fortune comes to those who are ready to receive it, it is also indicative of overcoming obstacles for the attainment of such fortune. The figure is attributed to Leo strength, and Sol the intellect and the elements associated with this figure are fire of earth.

The Vision:

First, I saw a golden door in the distance, as I entered through the door, everything around was gold, I didn’t see anything else, just a passage entirely of gold, the walls, the floor, even the ceiling was covered in gold. I stepped out into a lush, beautiful garden, I knew it was midday, as the sun was noticeable and very hot. Then I saw a black boy, with a red t-shirt, and bright shiny golden trousers. he was very small, but very sure of himself. He was accompanied by a giant lion, that he was walking with while holding it on a leash. At once the lion started playing with the boy, they wrestled but the boy was much stronger than the lion. The boy was picking the lion up and throwing it around, then the boy picked up the lion and held it in his arms, and the lion became affectionate and started licking the boy’s face. When they had stopped playing, the boy spoke to me and said, “this is a wonderful place, I think you will enjoy it here.” Then the lion became playful again, but this time it was with me, and it started licking me in my face and playing as before. After it had finished playing, I looked down at the boy again and I noticed, he was wearing a golden crown on his head adorned with rubies. As soon as he saw me looking at the crown, he threw it away into the garden, I saw it land by some flowers and as I brought my attention back to the boy, the crown was on his head again. We started walking and he pointed to a mountain in the distance, it was very far away, but I knew it was a part of the same garden. There was a beautiful palace on top of it, it looked like a fairy tale palace, it was greyish blue in color and looked very inviting, then the lion started attacking someone, the person he was attacking looked like a corpse, it was greyish, green and it seemed putrid. But it wasn’t a corpse, the lion was killing it, it was obvious from the screams that it was still alive. As the lion tore the limbs from its body, he didn’t bleed, but gold coins flooded out of the carcass like blood. It looked as if the only thing animal or human about the corpse was its skin, as if the lion was tearing apart a bag filled with gold. The boy said, “take as much as you can” “I told you, this is a lovely place”. Then as I was picking the gold coins off of the ground the boy asked me “do you like the palace?” and he said, “the journey there is the best” “it is on the way where all the fun is.” After saying that we started walking again and came amongst the loveliest pink flowers and I saw daisies or sunflowers growing and then there were beautiful girls all around us. They were behaving very seductively, some were bathing by a spring, they looked like nymphs, they were dressed in very soft pink robes, and they seemed as if they were undressing for the boy and me. Then the spirit said, “let's go there" and he walked towards the spring alone, he was immediately surrounded by nymphs who started undressing him. And in an instant the same thing happened to me, I was at once surrounded and being undressed by the same. That’s when I ended the vision.

Populus is a figure indicating dispersion, a crowd, multiplicity. It indicates the need and inertia of going along with external influences in one's life. The figure is attributed to Luna, Cancer and the elements associated with it are water of water.

The Vision:

I saw many giant boulders flying through the air and a lot of people terrified, from being under attack. They were running away from all the giant stones falling from the sky, there were too many of them to count. Everyone was in a panic, and one of them had enormous eyes, as if the fear had dilated them to an unnatural degree. He took my hand and said “we have to run” dragging me with until I was able to keep up. I saw a little disfigured girl, but only for a second before she was crushed and killed by one of the giant stones. Then I heard the screams of the dying and injured around us, mixed into the chaos, that I had become a part of. Then a great big monster appeared, it looked like a giant slug, a leech, or worm, but it wasn’t slimy, its skin was armored, and it had a big round mouth with enormous teeth. Then I was in the ocean, it was raining, there was a storm, and the water current was very strong and swept us away. Someone said, “we have to swim!” The monster was still there, it was eating everything, it was even eating the debris that was all around us. But I kept swimming, and soon, it felt as if I was being helped along to safety, as if a hand had reached out to save me from the ordeal, but there was no hand. We came to a small dock and a man was lifting people from the water, helping them to safety. I pulled myself out of the water and looked around back towards the sea. And I saw a proud man, he was a sailor on a great ship, but from long ago, with an official's hat on his head, wearing official attire, as if he was a naval officer from long ago. He then lifted up his sword, from whence the ship immediately changed direction and started firing its canons at another. In the beginning, the other ship was populated by the same, officer types dressed in official uniforms from a long time ago. Both ships were at war and seemed perfectly in their elements, until it changed. The crew of the second ship changed from officers to savages, half naked, with bows and arrows as their only defense, they looked like ancient native Americans. They were slaughtered in the conflict and the vision ended.

AN ACCOUNT OF A.·. A.·.

IT is necessary, my dear brothers, to give you a clear idea of the interior Order; of that illuminated community which is scattered throughout the world, but which is governed by one truth and united in one spirit.

This community possesses a School, in which all who thirst for knowledge are instructed by the Spirit of Wisdom itself; and all the mysteries of nature are preserved in this school for the children of light. Perfect knowledge of nature and of humanity is taught in this school. It is from her that all truths penetrate into the world; she is the school of all who search for wisdom, and it is in this community alone that truth and the explantation of all mystery are to be found. It is the most hidden of communities, yet it contains members from many circles; nor is there any Centre of Thought whose activity is not due to the presence of one of ourselves. From all time there has been an exterior school based on the interior one, of which it is but the outer expression. From all time, therefore, there has been a hidden assembly, a society of the Elect, of those who sought for and had capacity for light, and this interior society was the Axle of the R.O.T.A. All that any external order possesses in symbol, ceremony, or rite is the letter expressive outwardly of that spirit of truth which dwelleth in the interior Sanctuary. Nor is the contradiction of the exterior any bar to the harmony of the interior.

Hence this Sanctuary, composed of members widely scattered indeed but united by the bonds of perfect love, has been occupied from the earliest ages in building the grand Temple (through the evolution of humanity) by which the reign of L.V.X. will be manifest. This society is in the communion of those who have most capacity for light; they are united in truth, and their Chief is the Light of the World himself, V.V.V.V.V., the One Anointed in Light, the single teacher for the human race, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

The interior Order was formed immediately after the first perception of man's wider heritage had dawned upon the first of the adepts; it received from the Masters at first-hand the revelation of the means by which humanity could be raised to its rights and delivered from its misery. It received the primitive charge of all revelation and mystery; it received the key of true science, both divine and natural.

But as men multiplied, the frailty of man necessitated an exterior society which veiled the interior one, and concealed the spirit and the truth in the letter, because many people were not capable of comprehending great interior truth. Therefore, interior truths were wrapped in external and perceptible ceremonies, so that men, by the perception of the outer which is the symbol of the interior, might by degrees be enabled safely to approach the interior spiritual truths.

But the inner truth has always been confided to him who in his day had the most capacity for illumination, and he became the sole guardian of the original Trust, as High Priest of the Sanctuary.

When it became necessary that interior truths should be enfolded in exterior ceremony and symbol, on account of the real weakness of men who were not capable of hearing the Light of Light, then exterior worship began. It was, however, always the type or symbol of the interior, that is to say, the symbol of the true and Secret Sacrament.

The external worship would never have been separated from interior revel but for the weakness of man, which tends too easily to forget the spirit in the letter; but the Masters are vigilant to note in every nation those who are able to receive light, and such persons are employed as agents to spread the light according to man's capacity and to revivify the dead letter.

Through these instruments the interior truths of the Sanctuary were taken into every nation, and modified symbolically according to their customs, capacity for instruction, climate, and receptiveness. So that the external types of every religion, worship, ceremonies and Sacred Books in general have more or less clearly, as their object of instruction, the interior truths of the Sanctuary, by which man will be conducted to the universal knowledge of the one Absolute Truth.

The more the external worship of a people has remained united with the spirit of esoteric truth, the purer its religion; but the wider the difference between the symbolic letter and the invisible truth, the more imperfect has become the religion. Finally, it may be, the external form has entirely parted from its inner truth, so that ceremonial observances without soul or life have remained alone.

In the midst of all this, truth reposes inviolable in the inner Sanctuary.

Faithful to the spirit of truth, the members of the interior Order live in silence, but in real activity.

Yet, besides their secret holy work, they have from time to time decided upon political strategic action.

Thus, when the earth was night utterly corrupt by reason of the Great Sorcery, the Brethren sent Mohammed to bring freedom to mankind by the sword.

This being but partially a success, they raised up one Luther to teach freedom of thought. Yet this freedom soon turned into a heavier bondage than before.

Then the Brethren delivered unto man the knowledge of nature, and the keys thereof; yet this also was prevented by the Great Sorcery.

Now then finally in nameless ways, as one of our Brethren hath it now in mind to declare, have they raised up One to deliver unto men the keys of Spiritual Knowledge, and by His work shall He be judged.

This interior community of light is the reunion of all those capable of receiving light, and it is known as the Communion of Saints, the primitive receptacle for all strength and truth, confided to it from all time.

By it the agents of L.V.X. were formed in every age, passing from the interior to the exterior, and communicating spiritand life to the dead letter, as already said.

This illuminated community is the true school of L.V.X.; it has its Chair, its Doctors; it possesses a rule for students; it has forms and objects for study.

It has also its degrees for successive development to greater altitudes.

This school of wisdom has been for ever most secretly hidden from the world, because it is invisible and submissive solely to illuminated government.

It has never been exposed to the accidents of time and to the weakness of man, because only the most capable were chosen for it, and those who selected made no error.

Through this school were developed the germs of all the sublime sciences, which were first received by external schools, then clothed in other forms, and hence degenerated.

According to time and circumstances, the society of sages communicated unto the exterior societies their symbolic hieroglyphs, in order to attract man to the great truths of their Sanctuary.

But all exterior societies subsist only by virtue of this interior one. As soon as external societies wish to transform a temple of wisdom into a political edifice, the interior society retires and leaves only the letter without the spirit. It is thus that secret external societies of wisdom were nothing but hieroglyphic screens, the truth remaining inviolable in the Sanctuary so that she might never be profaned.

In this interior society man finds wisdom and with her All--- not the wisdom of this world, which is but scientific knowledge, which revolves round the outside but never touches the centre (in which is contained all strength), but true wisdom, understanding and knowledge, reflections of the supreme illumination.

All disputes, all controversies, all the things belonging to the false cares of this world, fruitless discussions, useless germs of opinions which spread the seeds of disunion, all error, schisms, and systems are banished. Neither calumny nor scandal is known. Every man is honoured. Love alone reigns.

We must not, however, imagine that this society resembles any secret society, meeting at certain times, choosing leaders and members, united by special objects. All societies, be what they may, can but come after this interior illuminated circle. This society knows none of the formalities which belong to the outer rings, the work of man. In this kingdom of power all outward forms cease.

L.V.X. is the Power always present. The greatest man of his times, the chief himself, does not always know all the members, but the moment when it is necessary that he should accomplish any object he finds them in the world with certainty ready to his hand.

This community has no outside barriers. He who may be chosen is as the first; he presents himself among the others without presumption, and he is received by the others without jealousy.

If it be necessary that real members should meet together, they find and recognize each other with perfect certainty.

No disguise can be used, neither hypocrisy nor dissimulation could hide the characteristic qualities which distinguish the members of this society. All illusion is gone, and things appear in their true form.

No one member can choose another; unanimous choice is required. Though not all men are called, many of called are chosen, and that as soon as they become fit for entrance.

Any man can look for the entrance, and any man who is within can teach another to seek for it; but only he who is fit can arrive within.

Unprepared men occasion disorder in a community, and disorder is not compatible with the Sanctuary. Thus it is impossible to profane the Sanctuary, since admission is not formal but real.

Worldly intelligence seeks this Sanctuary in vain; fruitless also will be the efforts of malice to penetrate these great mysteries; all is indecipherable to him who is not ripe; he can see nothing, read nothing in the interior.

He who is fit is joined to the chain, perhaps often where he thought least likely, and at a point of which he knew nothing himself.

To become fit should be the sole effort of him who seeks wisdom.

But there are methods by which fitness is attained, for in this holy communion is the primitive storehouse of the most ancient and original science of the human race, with the primitive mysteries also of all science. It is the unique and really illuminated community which is absolutely in possession of the key to all mystery, which knows the centre and source of all nature. It is a society which unites superior strength to its own, and counts its members from more than one world. It is the society whose members form the republic of Genius, the Regent Mother of the whole World.

The Rosy Cross: A Footnote.

I am a microcosm, or the pentagram. My aim is to unite with the macrocosm, or the hexagram. This is a tough enquiry: Which one of the symbols best reflects this union? The allegory of the royal wedding is certainly worth considering, as well as the hexagram. But for me it is the Light of the Cross, the L.V.X. and of course L.V.X. formulates the Rosy Cross. I am the microcosm, and the world is the macrocosm, however, so is the infinity of space and all of its galaxies, planets and stars. Once a magician has perfected his elemental structure, his Soul is raised in a vertical line to unite with his angel and this raising of his Soul seems to be active as well as passive in nature, and the attainment is determined by the readiness of a magician, thus the ascent depends on Grace. Although this Grace is only attained via the agency of devotion, this inference is simply made from my understanding of the nature of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage. The Grace is the Dove, the Shekinah and the most accurate term for its attainment is Agape. Hence, we now have the vertical line of the cross, with the Shekinah flooding the Soul of the magician and Agape is evoked in the heart of the aspirant. Agape then becomes active as Thelema or simply Will and symbolized by the Serpent which from its uncoiling Hadit expands horizontally into the world around him as well as vertically. The vertical expansion relates to his devotion and that which has led him to this, the horizontal expansion is associated with the world and is less personal, wherefrom union is attained with the totality of nature and is not particularly associated with the work and devotion of the magician. From my understanding then, there is a type of necessity generated through this dealing with the divine that leaves the aspirant grasping, so to speak, which is probably a bad way of saying it, but anyway, a grasping for closeness with the world and those around him, as for the first time he perhaps feels truly alone. As far as I can tell, this is the way in which the Rosy Cross is formulated and union between the microcosm and the macrocosm is attained. Once union is attained there is a separation again as Hadit contracts to formulate the Rose, the Rose is Nuit, and the Cross is Hadit. Once the symbol has been formulated, the Rose starts to expand again, thus linking the Cross to itself to maintain their connection. The union must then be the symbol of the Rose with 22 petals in the centre of the cross, as symbolic of Nuit and Hadit attributed to the heart and Love, thus completing the symbol that is suggestive of the Great Work.

So, once the pentagram is animated by the Shekinah it becomes the Christ, so to speak, hence the formula, yod-he-shin-vau-he, which is a symbol of the union presented in this essay. Another important point to remember and is depicted memorably vivid in the allegory of Jesus’ crucifixion, is that an adept will need to experience death in order to be reborn. This could be hinting at the horizontal expansion of the Cross of Light. As stated earlier, this union is not sought but forced as the result of the Shekinah’s influence. In other words, one will need to survive hell before being reborn as Osiris or the Christ. What is indicated, I believe is the marriage, the Royal Wedding, between Heaven and Earth, but more along the lines of the royal marriage between an adept and the universe, and here noting the world’s immediacy. It is worth pointing out that in Orphic theology the Shekinah is both Juno and Vesta, Juno who is the world and Vesta symbolic of Spirit or the Shekinah proper as we understand it. Thus, they represent the horizontal and vertical lines and the relationship, which is reestablished, forming an important part of the ordeal. Vesta is the closest link to Rhea, who is Babalon above the Abyss and Vesta is accordingly Babalon below the Abyss, ergo Juno is Babalon on Earth or in Malkuth below Tiphareth. And they are all manifestations of Nuit to whom we must dedicate our devotion. Rhea is associated with the Forms of Platonism, Vesta forms our link to these via her being associated with our unique relationship to the Forms, thus she is the feminine embodiment of one's ideal of perfection. Since Vesta is associated with that which one pledges his devotion, and logically, she is the easiest to fully unite with, however for the ego to regain balance and to fully realize the Great Work, it must reestablish its relationship with Juno. Hence, the reestablishment or refiguration of self is the ordeal of hell, depicted in the fable of Jesus, before he was reborn to prove his godliness, he had to forego heaven and went to hell for three days. Please excuse these Christian allegories, they just seem to be the easiest way to make sense of what the symbols mean? The symbols here are the formula of I.A.O., L.V.X. and the Rosy Cross, and from this Agape finds its place in the formula.

A Psychic Journey: Skrying Albus

“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.”

Albus is the third geomantic figure and corresponds to Mercury, Air and Gemini. It is suggestive of good fortune especially in matters of love and finance, the figure also indicates detachment which may be interpreted as a willingness to accept change.

The Vision:

I saw two giant waterfalls across from each other, they were identical, there was nothing in the vision besides these waterfalls, no plants or trees, it was as if I was floating in the air amidst them. Then I saw a little blue creature as small as a boy, but he must have been a man, he appeared to me like a baby, but he wasn’t a child. He was bold and his skin looked like streaming liquid, it streamed in all directions, and contrary to each-other's motions. It was as if he was entirely made of liquid, and he jumped up into the air and his body became an enormous face hovering above and in front of me. The face was speaking unintelligibly and as I concentrated and tried to make sense of what it was saying, my attention was taken and as I looked down, I saw the spirit again, this time he was giggling. His giggle turned into uncontrollable laughter, from which he grabbed his stomach and started rolling around on the floor. It was very amusing to see the spirit react this way, and I was filled with joy at the sight of him. His amusement ceased as fast as it started and at once he led me away saying, “I need things to be quiet, I need to think” “everything is good here, I am very prosperous” “there are dogs and houses”. The latter he said while he was ringing a bell, the bell was above his head, hanging down like an old doorbell. Every time he mentioned something, like dogs or houses, it would appear and vanish as he rang the bell, again with the new image taking its place. After a while, there were random images of things manifesting in sync with the ringing of the bell and without the little man saying a word, and this occurred so rapidly, that it was impossible to make out the character of these images. Then the little man was standing in front of me, my hands were cold and wet, then I saw a large amount of gold jewelry and someone, who's image I couldn't quite make out, looking through it, as if looking for something he'd lost, inspecting every piece carefully before putting it aside again. Suddenly, I saw a woman dancing, she was wearing a fine dress and covered with expensive jewelry, she had blonde hair and she seemed very happy, in fact she was ecstatic. I tested her and she suddenly stood in front of a giant knight in black armor, they were holding each other but as she leaned in to kiss him, she was violently jerked to another side of the scene. She was now standing in front of a giant monster and without losing her mood, she danced her way back to the knight as before, spiraling towards him. Every time she stood in front of the knight, she was jerked back into the arms of the monster, this continued for the duration of the vision, however and surprisingly, her mood remained pleasant throughout. And while all of this was happening, the spirit was standing next to me and laughing at the ridiculousness of the scene in front of us.
